Hy-Vee Application & Job Opportunities Online
Offering large, full-service supermarkets, Hy-Vee operates hundreds of grocery stores in the Midwest United States, including locations in Iowa, Illinois, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, South Dakota, and Wisconsin.
Positions: Department Clerk, Cashier, Stock Clerk, Aisle Coordinator, Pharmacy Technician
Store Hours: Open daily: 6:00AM-10:00PM
Around 230 Hy-Vee stores offer perishable and non-perishable grocery items at affordable prices. Many locations also come with delis, bakeries, floral departments, dine-in and carry-out food services, wine and liquor areas, pharmacies, and vast organic food sections. Recently, the prominent grocer began adding fuel stations and convenience quick-shops. Over the years, the supermarket started several subsidiaries to offer more comprehensive services, including D & D Foods, Inc. (freshly prepared salads and dips), Florist Distributing (flowers and plants), Hy-Vee Weitz (construction), and Perishable Distributors of Iowa, Ltd. (distributor of meat, seafood, cheese and dairy items).
Hy-Vee supermarkets employ close to 80,000 store associates and other workers. Most jobs available feature an online employment application process. The online application form features sections about work history, job skills, hobbies, availability, and contact information. Workers may find jobs as cashiers, stockers, meat cutters, bakers, warehouse workers, or front-end associates. Although an applicant may list a job of choice, many storefronts staff grocery store jobs based on current needs. Job interviews often serve as good indications of where applicants may end up employed; however, potential workers should remain adamant about preferred jobs when applying.
Nearly every position requires excellent customer service interaction. Supermarket associates must make store patron visits easier and happier. Cashiers spend the most time with customers, including scanning items, bagging groceries with packers, and ringing up purchases. Hy-Vee cashiers must work in efficient and timely manners. Stock clerks throughout the store must keep shelves and displays well stocked and tidy. Clerks must pay attention to detail and build displays in safe manners on the sales floor. Above entry-level employees, the department heads and managers oversee subordinate workers and make sure everyone stays on task. Additional duties usually come in case-by-case bases.
Hy-Vee offers enticing job benefits to eligible workers. Most starting employees earn close to minimum wage but often receive pay raises with experience gained. The regional supermarket pays department and store managers yearly salary options generally ranging between $45,000 and $60,000. Employment status may play a huge factor in the amount of available work benefits allotted to employees. While both part-time and full-time workers earn paid vacation time, full-time associates may also receive healthcare coverage, insurance plans, profit sharing, and 401(k) retirement plans.
